Find a luxury villa in Jamaica by Dreams R Forever

At the height of the Roman Empire, wealthy merchants and landowners would construct large private homes; called villas, in the hills of Tuscany or at the shores of the Amalfi Coast to use as seasonal homes during the heat of the summer. These homes, or villas, also served as a place for family gatherings. Today, villas are often used as vacation homes and are usually found in Italy, England, France and the Caribbean Islands.

Jamaica, the third largest island in the Caribbean, lies 90 miles south of Cuba and 100 miles west of Haiti in the West Indies. Geographically diverse, the island features the Blue Mountains, numerous rivers and waterfalls, a lagoon, and dozens of white- and black-sand beaches.

The hospitality of Jamaica is as world-renowned as its beaches. And apart from the gorgeous coast, Jamaica has many plantations to visit, natures reserves and museums. A trip to Jamaica is not complete without experiencing the reggae music, dancing and flavorful food that is the heartbeat of Jamaican culture.

Jamaican cuisine includes a mixture of cooking techniques, flavors, spices and influences from the indigenous people on the island of Jamaica, and the Spanish, British, Africans, Indian and Chinese who have inhabited the island. It is also influenced by the crops introduced into the island from tropical Southeast Asia. Jamaican cuisine includes various dishes from the different cultures brought to the island with the arrival of people from elsewhere. Other dishes are novel or a fusion of techniques and traditions. In addition to ingredients that are native to Jamaica, many foods have been introduced and are now grown locally. A wide variety of seafood, tropical fruits and meats are available.

Jamaican culture is a combinaison of all the different cultures of the people who inhabited this island. The Taino people were joined by the Spanish conquistador and then by African slaves. After the abolition of slavery, all of those merged into a single unique jamaican culture.
