Disney Legend, Richard Irvine

Disney Legend, Richard Irvine

Disney Legend, Richard Irvine (April 5, 1910 – March 30, 1976) headed up Disney Imagineering for creation of every Disneyland and World attraction.

The Richard F. Irvine Riverboat was named after the Disney executive Richard Irvine and was the second riverboat to enter into service on the Rivers of America at Magic Kingdom Park. Its counterpart, the Admiral Joe Fowler Riverboat, served from October 2, 1971, through 1980.

Cast member Irvine’s window credit in Magic Kingdom is above the Plaza Restaurant and says: “Walter E. Disney – Graduate School of Design & Master Planning – Instructors, Howard Brummitt, Marvin Davis, Fred Hope – Headmaster, Richard Irvine – Dean of Design, John Hench – Instructors, Vic Greene, Bill Martin, Chuck Myall”
