Boil water advisory due to water main break in Indian Lake section near Franklin Rd and Delaware.Visit www.denvillenj.org for more info

Denville Township is issuing a BOIL WATER ADVISORY due to a water main break in the area of South Shore Rd. and Delaware Tr. If you did not received a hand delivered letter at your home, similar to this alert, you do not have to boil your water. A very small number of water customers are effected. A potential or actual threat to the quality of water being provided to you currently exists; therefore, we are implementing the boil water advisory as a precaution. Boil water until you are notified that tests show you no longer need to do so.

Effective immediately and until further notice bring tap water to a rolling boil, boil for one minute, and cool before using. Boiled or bottled water should be used for dinking, making ice, washing dishes, brushing teeth, washing fruits and vegetables, mixing baby formula, juices or drinks, and preparing food until further notice. Boiling kills bacteria and other organisms in the water.

The following measures are also recommended: Throw away uncooked food or beverages of ice cubes made with tap water during the day of the advisory; Keep boiled water in the refrigerator for drinking; Do not swallow water while showering or bathing; Rinse hand-washed dishes with a diluted bleach solution (one tablespoon of household bleach per gallon of tap water) or clean your dishes in a dishwasher using the hot wash cycle and dry cycle; Do not use home filtering devices in place of boiling or using bottled water – most home water filters will not provide adequate protection from microorganisms; Use only boiled water to treat minor injuries; Provide pets with drinking water that has been boiled and cooled.

If you have any questions please call the Department of Public Works at 973-625-8334. Our hours of operation are Monday through Friday 7:00 A.M. to 3:30 P.M. In case of an emergency contact the Police at 973-627-4900, ext. 9. We are working as quickly as possible to restore your water quality. Another NIXLE will be sent out when the Boil Water Advisory has been lifted. Thank you for your patience.
