The iconic Denville Rotary Street Festival is back – Sunday, June 5th, 11am – 6:00pm (rain or shine) on Broadway in downtown Denville. The fun includes delicious food, carnival rides for kids, unique merchandise for sale, arts and crafts, 50/50 drawing, beer garden, and all-day live entertainment! For nearly 40 years, Denville Rotary has organized and managed the festival which attracts vendors, sponsors and guests from all over Morris County and beyond. The annual festival boasts an attendance over 20,000 and raises funds to support Rotary’s local, national and international service and charity projects.
Get a feel for what life was like for the Lenni-Lenape of NJ hundreds of years ago! Tour our decorated model wigwam, examine stone and wooden tools, learn the games Lenape children played, and try making a fire with a bow drill.
Civil War Weekend is back at Fosterfields! Join the NJ 2nd Brigade as they host a reenactment weekend. See skirmishes, camp set-ups, and more during this family-friendly event.

It’s time for a haircut! Visit Fosterfields and watch master shearer, Margaret Quinn, demonstrate how to properly shear a sheep, the old-fashioned way. Timed entries throughout day. This event is Rain or Shine.
If you want to see the most birds on your spring bird walks, it’s crucial to learn some of their songs. After discussing the reasons why birds sing and call, discover how to recognize many of the most common songs using easy memory devices. Then we will walk the trails listening for and identifying all the birds we hear. Bring binoculars or borrow ours.

Tuesday, May 17: Glacial Geology – This program for older homeschoolers features a 2-3 mile hike on the rugged trails of Pyramid Mountain with a nature lesson along the way! In this session, we will learn about the fascinating geology of Pyramid Mountain with its glacial erratic boulders and gneiss bedrock. Bring a snack and water and wear appropriate shoes for hiking.
Tuesday, June 21: Amphibians – This program for older homeschoolers features a 2-3 mile hike on the rugged trails of Pyramid Mountain with a nature lesson along the way! In this session, we will learn about the amphibians of the forest: toads, newts, frogs and salamanders. Hikers should bring a snack and water and wear appropriate shoes for hiking.
Be it frozen frogs, busy beavers or hunting herons, the creatures of the Great Swamp have some downright weird adaptations. Join us as we explore the wild ways that the wetland organisms have adapted to their environments with a guided walk and activities.
