Morris County Library:   Open Mic Night on Thursdays

Morris County Library sponsors Open Mic Night from 6-8 p.m. on the first Thursday of the month — that means tomorrow!

Morris County Library welcomes performers of all types – musicians, comedians, poets, storytellers and multimedia presenters. Performer are encouraged to sign up in advance. Walk-ins are accommodated on a first-come, first-served basis. All are invited, though some material may be of an adult nature.

The library will provide a PA sound system, electronic keyboard, LCD multimedia projection system. For more information and performers sign ups, contact Laurence Ross at 973-285-6948 or email lross@co.morris.nj.us.

#MorrisCty Parks – A Winter’s Day on the Farm at Fosterfields

Living Historical Farm Features Wagon Rides, Farm Animals, Ice Harvesting

Morris Parks: A Winter's Day on the Farm at Fosterfields, Sunday, Feb. 3

On Sunday, Feb. 3, from noon to 4 p.m., join an exciting, outdoor, family adventure, and experience traditional farm life as it was in the early 20th century at the Morris County Park Commission’s Fosterfields Living Historical Farm in Morris Township.

Climb aboard the open-air tractor pulled wagon for a memorable ride around the farm, and stop by the barnyard to meet the Jersey cows, horses, sheep, and chickens. Learn the importance of ice harvesting and what special tools were used. Pitch in, and help with daily farm chores, such as sawing and working with wood.

Take a break from the chilly, winter air, and visit the cozy farmhouse where seasonal foods are cooking on the wood-burning cook  stove. Stop by the Visitors Center to make a family-friendly craft, and check out the Transportation Exhibit to see Charles Foster’s Rockaway carriage and Caroline Foster’s Model ‘T’ Ford and Hupmobile. Be sure to try out all of the interactive displays!

Admission to this event is $8 for adults, $7 for seniors (65+), $6 for children ages 4 – 16, and $4 for children ages 2 and 3, Free for children under age 2. Friends members are half price with a current membership card. #MorrisCty SNAP Recipients: Important Information About Your February Benefits

 

 

Due to the federal government shutdown, eligible Morris County residents will be receiving February Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits earlier than usual. If you received a SNAP benefit in January and were scheduled to receive SNAP in February, your February benefits will be available on your Families First card as of Jan. 17.Morris SNAP Recipients: Important Information About Your February Benefits

This is your benefit for the entire month of February, so please budget with that in mind.

February cash assistance benefits for Work First New Jersey (WFNJ) Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) and General Assistance (GA) will be available on your Families First card on your regular date.
