Disney Legend Card Walker

Disney Legend Esmond Cardon Walker (Card Walker), January 9, 1916 – November 28, 2005, was President of The Walt Disney Company from ’71-’77, CEO from ’76-’83, and Chairman from ’80-’83.

He proudly served his country as a Flight Control Officer aboard aircraft carrier USS Bunker Hill during ’43-’45.

Walker served an integral role in the development of Walt Disney World in Florida as well as the opening of EPCOT and Disneyland Tokyo. He is actually considered one of the ‘6 fathers of Walt Disney World’.

Walker was also the founder of the Disney Channel.

Card Walker’s Main Street Window can be seen above the Emporium and reads: “Dr. Card Walker – Licensed Practitioner of Psychiatry – And Justice of the Peace – “We Never Close” (Except for Golf)”

Sponsored by the CCSA and held annually on the third Saturday in October, National Paint Your Own Pottery Day is an opportunity for CCSA-member PYOP studios to feature special events.

October 03, 2017 — The Contemporary Ceramic Studios Association (CCSA), a not-for-profit trade

association serving the needs of ceramic and paint your own pottery (PYOP) studios and suppliers worldwide, is inviting families to have fun and get creative during National Paint Your Own Pottery Day on October 21, 2017.

Sponsored by the CCSA and held annually on the third Saturday in October, National Paint Your Own Pottery Day is an opportunity for CCSA-member PYOP studios to feature special events — such as demonstrations, workshops, classes, contests, discounts, promotions, and more — that showcase why PYOP is surging in

popularity around the world, and is a major driving force behind the thriving do-it-yourself craft movement.

People of all ages — from young children, to young-at-heart seniors — receive all of the materials, tools, instruction and support they need to transform their imagination into a work of art, and create a treasured keepsake or a unique gift. Activities include pottery painting, canvas painting, glass fusing, creating with clay,

mosaics, and more.

“PYOP studios are an ideal and affordable escape from hectic day-to-day life, where families can spend quality time together and create great memories in a friendly and supportive environment,” commented CCSA executive director Dena Pearlman.

“And just as importantly, no creative or artistic ability is required to have

fun, and create something amazing!”

Families and all other individuals and groups can discover the National Paint Your Own Pottery Day special events planned for their area by visiting

In the Tiki, Tiki, Tiki room

In the Tiki, Tiki, Tiki room

Well, you won’t see lorikeets in the tiki room; but you will hear Thurl Ravenscroft!

1963, Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room opened to the public. The Tiki Room was unlike anything seen before. It was a technological marvel that used state-of-the-art computers to create characters that talked, moved and even breathed in a lifelike way. This was Disney’s first use of Audio Animatronics with cast member and Imagineer Lee Adams.

Monstro, I’ve heard of him!

“That Monstro, I’ve heard of him! He’s a whale of a whale! Why, he swallows whole ships, alive!” ―Jiminy Cricket

In Disney’s Pinocchio, the animators of Monstro were inspired by Herman Melville’s Moby Dick, the sperm whale!

monstro

The voice of Monstro was by Disney Legend, Thurl Ravenscroft.

Thurl Ravenscroft may be more commonly recognized by many as the voice of Tony The Tiger (They’re GREEAAT!) or the singer of “You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch”; but his voice is heard throughout Disney.

Book a stay at Disney and see how many place you can find and hear Thurl!

There is a place where storybook dreams become fairy tale realities.  Where world-class settings create the perfect backdrops for a romantic honeymoon.  A place where magic makes anything possible.  Where every day is a new adventure and every night is a ball.  That place, is Walt Disney World Resorts, the place where dreams come true.

Pirates Have the Pirates Hostage!

The new age Pirates are holding the Disney Pirates of the Caribbean for ransom!

Yes, I am calling the hackers pirates because the most infamous hackers’ group identifies with the flag of Captain Jack Rackham:

Flag of Jack Rackham

Flag of an infamous hacker group

And no, I have no knowledge as to which hacker group was involved. I just felt it ironic that the pirates are held ransom by pirates.
