Denville Police Department
Tuesday March 20th, 2018 :: 10:59 a.m. EDT
Advisory

In anticipation of tomorrow’s snow event, please make every effort to clear your sidewalks.

In advance of tomorrow’s anticipated snow event (hopefully the final snow storm of the season), please remember that property owners with sidewalks must ensure the sidewalks are clear and
passable. We have included the Township ordinance (3-4.1) regarding the clearing of sidewalks for your review below:

The owner or tenant of any lands abutting upon the public highways of the Township shall remove all snow and ice from the full width and length of all abutting sidewalks of such highways and, at the intersection of two or more sidewalks constituting a corner and/or a crosswalk, from the sidewalk to the plowed section of the roadway, within 12 hours of daylight after the same falls or is formed thereon, provided that the Business Administrator is authorized to suspend this requirement or extend the period of removal when, in his/her opinion, unusual and extreme conditions occur, so as to warrant such action.

Thank you for your anticipated attention to this matter.

Disney Legend Harper Goff

Disney Legend Harper Goff

(March 16, 1911 – March 3, 1993)

Want to see Harper Goff’s Window and More? CaribbeanDays can take you here!

Goff was a member of the artistic team for Walt Disney Studios and designed the Nautilis for 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea as well as many of the inventive special effects. He also contributed to the rendering and concept art for the design of Mickey Mouse Park (Disneyland) and Walt Disney World. Like Walt Disney, he too was a train enthusiast and met Walt at a model train store in London where they both wanted to buy the same model train. Instead, Harper Goff became a cast member at Disney Studios!

When Goff wasn’t working or fiddling with model trains, he played banjo with the Dixieland jazz band “Firehouse Five Plus Two,” a group made up of various Disney artists. They even performed at Disneyland on opening day. After wandering the Park for a bit, they soon realized it made perfect sense that the “Firehouse Five Plus Two” perform in front of, where else, the Main Street Fire Station. Everyone was enjoying the music, except for Walt. He was in his apartment above the Fire Station at the time, trying to take a nap.

Disney Legend Jack Lindquist, Master of Fun

Jack Lindquist’s window on Main Street in Disneyland is on City Hall, bracketed by his buddy Marty Sklar’s window.

Jack Lindquist, March 15, 1927-February 28, 2016, moved to Los Angeles with his family at age four. He started acting at seven, during the Depression, earning $5.10 a day as an extra on Our Gang.

After serving in the military and previous jobs, he came to Disney and became a Legend!  Linquist was the master that innovated the marketing tagline known in football for saying, “I’m going to Disneyland”, after winning a Super Bowl.

He served as the first-ever President of Disneyland. He started with the Disney Company in 1955, two months after Disneyland opened, as the park’s first advertising manager. Jack worked his way up the Disney ladder until he was eventually named President of Disneyland in 1988 by Michael Eisner. Jack retired after 38 years with The Disney Company, was honored with a window on Main Street, U.S.A., and Disney Legend status in 1994.
