**TWO MORE HOSTAGE SCAM CALLS**

In the past two days we have dealt with residents who have received the “Hostage Scam” call. After conferring with the FBI we have learned that the calls appear to be originating out of the country and using a program that shows on your caller ID as a local number in NJ. The people perpetrating the scam have done their homework and are very convincing. We are not 100% sure where or how they have gotten all the information they have but we do caution what you post on social media sites.

The last two calls involved a loved one being held hostage and the caller being instructed to go to the bank and withdrawal money and go to a CVS where they will be given more instructions. Always call your family member who is believed to be held hostage and make sure they are OK. If for some reason this were an actual situation you will need to contact the police immediately. In both cases we have dealt with they were indeed scams and all family members were fine. The phone number used in this recent scam is the same as the post below…

From another Facebook post on News 12…”just got scammed….. I received a call from this number 862-307-6515 telling me that my brother got into an accident, i asked the name of my brother but they wouldn’t tell me, i told them the name of my brother and mine by mistake, after i had said my brothers name and mine they confirmed that it was him in fact, they told me that my brother wanted to call the police to file a complaint but he didn’t because he had criminal records, so he took a gun out and started punching my brother and took him to his grandmothers house until i sent money to them, they told me not to hang up the phone and not to call the police and not to contact any family members. needless to say, i went to cvs and sent a money gram to Puerto Rico for $650.00 because i was worried about my brother…please make the public aware of this scam. it’s very scary”.

How many know Dr. Seuss?  Before he was counting One Fish, Two Fish he was also a satirical cartoonist.

Dr. Seuss adapted many of his characters in his well known children’s books today from the characters he drew in his political cartoons.

William Shatner’s acclaimed one-man show takes audiences on a voyage through his life and career, from Shakespearean stage actor to international icon, known as much for his unique persona as for his expansive body of work on TV and film. “William Shatner is much more than an actor – he’s a personality of galactic proportions!”

  • William Shatner has cultivated a career spanning over 50 years as an award-winning actor, director, producer, writer, recording artist, and horseman.  He is one of Hollywood’s most recognizable figures and a major philanthropist.

His accomplishments in television, film, and stage would take a great deal of time and more space than allotted here.

In 1966, Shatner originated the role of “Captain James T. Kirk” in the television series Star Trek.  The series spawned a feature film franchise where Shatner returned as Captain Kirk in seven of the Star Trek movies, one of which he directed.

Shatner played the title role in the hit television series T.J. Hooker before hosting television’s first reality-based series, Rescue 911.

He won Emmys and his first Golden Globe for his portrayal of eccentric lawyer “Denny Crane” on both The Practice and Boston Legal.  He received four more Emmy nominations as well as other Golden Globe and SAG Award nods.

Shatner’s Raw Nerve, currently airing on Bio, is his own edgy, celebrity interview series. Each episode showcases Shatner getting to know his guest on an intensely personal level, touching upon subjects not normally visited on other talk shows.  Guests have discussed topics such as addiction, grief, childhood, marriage, combat and parenthood.

His love of music inspired him to record the critically acclaimed album Has Been.  The Milwaukee Ballet performed “Common People,” a dance presentation set to several numbers from the record; the event and its preparations are featured the new documentary Gonzo Ballet, which has played to sold out houses at film festivals worldwide.

A new musical project, space-inspired album, Seeking Major Tom, featuring a large number of heavy metal covers, as well as songs by U2, Frank Sinatra, Queen and Pink Floyd, was released in October, 2011.

Off the screen and broadcast waves, Shatner has authored nearly 30 best-sellers in both the fiction and non-fiction genres.  His autobiography, Up Till Now, was a New York Times best-seller.  Shatner’s newest book, Shatner Rules was released in October, 2011.

A comic book series – William Shatner Presents – debuted in summer 2009.  The series is based on three novels of Shatner’s: Tek War, Man O’ War, and Quest for Tomorrow, along with a brand new title: Chimera.

Shatner has been successful in another area — horse breeding.  A longtime dedicated breeder of American Quarter horses, he has had enormous success with the American Saddlebred, developing and riding world champions and has won numerous world championships in several equine events.  His passions for horses and philanthropy were united when he started the Hollywood Charity Horse Show.  The annual event benefits Los Angeles-based children’s charities.

Shatner continues to act, write, produce and direct while still making time to work with charities and further his passion in equestrian sports.  He and his wife, Elizabeth and three married children live in Los Angeles.
